New to 3D Prints? Read This!
Don't take our word for it, read what our customers are saying! We strive in providing an excellent experience.
3D Printing takes time -- but we print many of our items ahead of time and can often ship within 1-3 business days and nearly always within 2 weeks!
We work hard at providing high quality prints, and staying up to date so that we can always improve. We inspect every item before it ships!
We currently use two different types of 3D Printers -- FDM and DLP. The difference between the two is the detail, material, and the process in which it prints. We use our FDM printers most often, as they work great and the prints are cheaper for our customers.
In a nutshell, Resin is of higher quality and finer detail, but the process to clean up the resin and finalize a DLP print is extensive, which causes the detail and value to be higher. PLA prints are durable, cheap to produce, and can be done on a larger scale.
We use our Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printer for our larger prints. This is the most common 3D printer, and it uses a thermoplastic filament that is heated and melted, then extruded (one layer at a time) to create a 3D Printed product. The material which we use most often is PLA (Polylactic Acid) filament. PLA is a biodegradable and bioactive thermoplastic aliphatic polyester that comes from renewable resources such as corn starch. PLA comes in a wide variety of colors and styles. Note: While we can custom print with PETG, we will not print with ABS.
PLA is not suitable for high temperatures; even things like being left in a hot car can cause parts to soften or deform. PLA is best for cosplay and decorative application. PLA is sturdy in adult hands but can easily be broken if dropped or care is not taken. PLA is not as strong and sturdy as ABS (what a Lego is made from), but it will last and work perfectly for tabletop gaming needs with care and consideration. PLA is not dishwasher safe. We do not trust the PLA printing process to consider PLA a food-safe option.
We use our DLP Printer for our fine detail resin prints. A DLP (digital light processing) Printer uses a liquid resin that uses photopolymerization when exposed to UV light, layer by layer to form substantial layers that stack to create a 3D Printed object. We use our DLP printer to print small, fine detail prints such as miniatures. The process to clean and finalize a DLP print is extensive, which causes the detail and value to be higher.
We currently use a mixture of a general-purpose resin and a flexible resin to produce a 3D print that is less brittle and fragile than that of one single type. The flexible resin allows us to have a little bit of "bend" in our prints. Warning: As with any miniatures, these are fragile and will break without care. Resin prints should not be confused with flexible "army guys" as you would buy at the big box store.
Don't claim you didn't realize it....
All items that are used for scale are not included in any purchase. Items may include die, minis, terrain, tiles, and copies of the original item but show in various colors. Items do not come painted unless specifically purchased as "painted." If you are unsure of what you are receiving for the purchase price, please contact us before ordering.
Select No Preference During Checkout
Many of our customers don't care what color the print is because they intend to paint it. When you select "No Preference" for our listing color or style, we will ship you whatever we have in stock and ready to go. The item shipped for "no preference" will only be sent in the colors listed for that listing.
What you see is what you get
Our items are represented and shown very well in our product photos. We strive to provide you an idea of exactly what you will receive. If, for some reason, the item doesn't look like the picture (color/shade obviously not included as they come in different shades), then please let us know as soon as you receive your item.
When you will get it
Our shipping times vary on our current order volumes. We typically ship orders within 1-5 days of when the order is placed. Some larger orders may take additional time. We guarantee that all items will ship within 14 days of the order being placed. If for any reason, we are unable to meet that guarantee, we will contact you directly.
But your email said it was delivered!
We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages. Please verify the shipping address and ensure that it is being delivered to a secure location. Please don't worry, everything has a tracking number, and although we've heard some funny stories of where the package ended up, none of our shipments have been lost in transit.
You didn't include all of my stuff!
Sometimes items like to jump from one box to another. This doesn't happen very often, but we've had a couple of slip ups. Don't worry; reach out to us and let us know.
It isn't going to work afterall
GriffonCo does not accept returns of any product. Please make sure that it's what you want and the scale is appropriate for whatever you are using it for. All products are checked for quality and are packed to ensure safe travels. If you are unhappy with your purchase, please contact us directly.
If the item is damaged or unusable due to our process, we will either ship you a replacement or approve a refund or partial refund of the item in question. Your refund will be processed in this situation, and a credit will automatically be credited to your original payment method within 30 days. You may request a credit to our store instead of a monetary refund.
But this came broken...
GriffonCo may replace a product that does not arrive in the condition in which it was sent. Our replacement policy only lasts 3 days from the date your order has been delivered. If 3 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately, we cannot offer you a replacement. We do require images of the product and packaging to review any replacement requests. The replacement must have a visual defect or issue that directly affects the usability of the item. Contact us directly for more information.
If the item needs to be shipped back, the buyer is responsible for shipping.
For the rare exceptions that we do accept a return.... (never)
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
The time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary. We cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item and recommend you purchase insurance or tracking.
There is no return, exchange or complaint department for this
Clearance items or "crit happens" bags will not be replaced or exchanged under any circumstances. You purchase these items, knowing full well that they will have defects.
Giving it to a friend...
We offer gift wrapping and are really awesome about cool ideas or thoughts you have regarding gifts for people who are important to you (not for those who aren't because why would you buy something for someone who is not important to you?) If you have a special request or a complicated thought, reach out to us -- chances are we can help you out.
We check everything -- but we are human
Just like store bought commercial miniatures, 3D Printed items may require sanding and priming prior to painting and/or use. 3D Printed PLA items may have small imperfections and/or print lines. We strive to only send out the highest quality prints and we don't send it if it's not good enough. We have found that after painting that these disappear and are often unnoticeable.
Our color changes sometimes and without warning
GriffonCo is constantly striving to provide the best quality and options available. If an item is listed as "brown" you will get a brown color, but it may be lighter or darker than what is shown in the listing image. Our filament comes and goes out of stock and we are constantly experimenting with colors and brands to help cut the cost of the items down and to also provide better quality.
You can prime it.. but you don't have too
Priming our products before painting is recommended, but not required. Spray paint primer works great, but a simple base coat works well also. Any quality of acrylic paint works well with PLA and Resin Plastics.
Some move -- but not everything
Some parts may appear to move. Not all parts will move. Moving parts vary from each piece and will be noted in the description or shown in the pictures if any parts are movable. Some examples of parts that may or may not move are wheels, doors etc.
Different sizes for different folks
All of our prints are printed original scale given to us by the designer, unless otherwise noted. This is typically done at a 28mm-30mm scale. If you would like an item to be printed larger or smaller, please contact us directly. Please use the photos for scale reference. We use a standard 20 sided die in all of our pictures to show reference scale, along with the 1 inch grid that the models are featured on.
It could --- but, it hasn't... but in case it does
PLA has a melting point starting at around 120 degrees F -- please do not allow your shipped items to sit in the hot sun for long periods of time. If you need special shipping arrangements, please contact us directly. We are not responsible for any damage to our products caused by high heat. We've heard not to leave this stuff in your car, but we have not seen anything melt so it's all your own risk!
Not suitable for long term outdoor usage or applications where the printed part is exposed to temperatures higher than 50 °C (122 °F).
Cool -- We get it, our prints are not cheap if you have a 3D Printer
Not everyone can or will choose to dive into the world of 3D printing. We offer the service to print for those who don't want too or are not able too. If you own a 3D Printer, or are a customer who just got their own 3D Printer you can find links to every designer in which you can purchase your own digital files of our models.
Look,we get it.... but we are following the rules.
We've had several inquiries about why we are selling models that can be found for free on Thingiverse. We only sell items in which we have the rights to sell. We work directly with our designers and compensate them for their files, often with commission on sales. Not all printing companies own the rights but rest assure we take this very seriously and maintain relationships with our designers.
If you see something and want it, but we don;t have it
If you see something on a website of one of our partners but we aren't listing it, just contact us. We can get it printed, priced and listed just for you! The only exception to this is when designers have exclusive rights on specific models and are not available for commercial printing. This comes in exceptionally handy when we are getting a new Kickstarter and receive an huge influx of files.
We can print it.. maybe.
The best option is to email us and ask us about the file you do have. If we do not have rights to commercially print the file, we may try to obtain them if it is feasible. If not, we are unable to print your STL file. We are capable of printing non-commercial prints from Thingiverse and most custom miniature websites. We will not agree to print any model that will lower our standards of quality.
There are so many options in the realms these days. You can shop anywhere you want, anytime you want, and however, you want. Just know that choosing us means you will have exceptional customer care, speedy turn around time, and cool stuff in the box.
When deciding, take into consideration that GriffonCo has:
There is no higher quality than that which is delivered by GriffonCo. Every model I've gotten or seen of theirs is of the highest quality. Katie and Andy go the extra mile to make sure you get exactly what you need. I could not more highly recommend their awesome 3d printing services.
