Visiting Kublacon

We experienced our first "Con" not only as a business but also as just people. We were lucky to hang out and meet with some pretty cool people.

When Solo asked us if we wanted to come hang out with Ukodor at Kublacon, we didn't have any doubts that this was a must do on our already busy calendar. We had to balance and cancel our annual family camp trip but we made it happened and traveled to the bay area. I should mention, I'm not a fan of the bay area it took about 3 hours to go 15 miles. I can't help liking these people though...

We had no idea what to expect or what would possibly be the outcome for our business. We were not going to sell anything, (being our first "Con") we just wanted to see what it was all about. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza that hosted the Warhammer events and D&D Streams -- while the bulk of the stuff was at the Hyatt. This worked for us, as we were there for the D&D Streams. The shuttle worked great for us.

Over the course of the weekend we were fortunate to meet some amazing people and hang out with the crew from Ukodor. It totally made us love them even more!

It's All About the People

Andy and I are both pretty "chill" but we are very much not the walk up and play with random people. This is one thing we have to learn to overcome if we plan to do more gaming conventions. We were pretty stoked to check out some other ideas and thoughts through the vendor ally -- we discussed what we would and wouldn't do for any con we planned to have a table at. This one weekend inspired us to get new products on the website and make even more cool connections.

One of the weekend highlights was for sure the folks we met. We met the entire Ukodor crew -- even Buu who was sick. We also hung out with the painting crew who completely rocked painting the crazy amount of items we sent for them to use during the show. We were fortunate enough to be entertained and amused by the one and only "Torq". Truth be had, this dude is funny as hell and has one heck of a storybook life that he let us peak into. Not only is he super awesome as a voice actor -- but the guy literally seemed to shout from rooftops (ok, just from our table) about how cool our stuff was. He was a better marketer than I was the entire weekend! Hah!

Torq (Erik) introduced us to Kailey Bray. She was the guest player for the streaming game on Saturday and she was super cool. We learned about their new show "Damsels, Dice, and Everything Nice". From our hotel room we watched the 2 episodes they had at the time and what an amazing concept and hook to get people to watch. You don't even have to like D&D to think it was funny and spot on.

When we got home, the kids watched it an fell in love. This chick is someone to watch for... at the very least -- watch the show.

"In a kingdom, far, far away, these damsels are taking charge of their own stories, one roll at a time. See your favourite princesses snack, strategize and squabble their way through an epic tabletop adventure!"
